UFC 151 Preview – Jon Jones VS Dan Henderson

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones is set to put his title on the line against veteran and former Pride champion Dan Henderson during the UFC 151 main event on September 1, 2012.

Jones is trying to show the world that he is the best fighter in the light heavyweight division and the battle against Henderson will be the champion’s proving ground.

Jones has defeated top UFC 町田 ダンススクール light heavyweight fighters, such as Rashad Evans, Shogun Rua, Lyoto Machida, Brandon Vera and Ryan Bader. Needless to say, Jones has left an unimaginable path of destructions throughout his career in the division, making the UFC having a hard time to find a worthy opponent for the champion.

To cement Jones’ legacy as the greatest light heavyweight of all time, he needs to overcome Henderson. This match will be Jones’ fourth title defense and Henderson is the only contender Jones has yet to beat in 205 lbs division.

Henderson, a veteran, is hungry to show the world that he still has all the tools needed to fight with the best fighters in the division. The fight against Jones will be Henderson’s first shot at the light heavyweight title since 2008, during which he submitted to Anderson Silva’s rear naked choke.

Henderson wants to show the world that his right hand is still lethal and is still as dangerous as it used to be. Henderson said that he wanted to see if Jones was really the greatest fighter in the history of mixed martial arts.

Other than Jones versus Henderson, UFC 151 will also feature a featherweight contest between Dennis Siver and Eddie Yagin. This battle has all the possibility to become a classic match because both fighters are exciting fast paced warriors. The winner will have a major opportunity to fight for a featherweight championship bout.

Other main event matches include John Lineker, Yasuhiro Urushitani, Dennis Hallman, Thiago Tavares, Jake Ellenberger and Jay Hieron.
